AAR You Being Abused?

If a family member or friend were in a relationship where they were told this, vast majority of us would tell them to get out!   No human being should have to live with that kind of mental abuse!

Repeated cycles of abuse and reconciliation can result in the following beliefs:

  • The abused thinks that the violence was his or her fault
  • The abused has an inablility to place the responsibility for the violence elsewhere.
  • The abused fears for their life and/or the lives of their children (if present).
  • The abused has an irrational belief that the abuser is omnipresent and omniscient.

Not long ago, I would have told you that I couldn't understand how people could live like that.  I mean how can the violence be his or her fault and not the abusers??  Why do they blame themselves and not the guilty one?  If they're afraid for their kids lives, why don't they get them out of there?   How can the abuser be all-seeing, all-knowing???  How can they be brainwashed like that?

Oh.      Right.  For many of us, we're taught to believe this from day one.

ARR you going to let the abuse continue?

She Didn't Know Why, She Just Felt It Was Wrong.

My Aunt was a good woman by all accounts,  I don't think actively hated anyone her entire life.  She wasn't  against woman's rights like her uncles, she wasn't against people of different races like her grandfather was and certianly was against the slavery her great-great grandparents endorsed!!

She didn't even think homosexuals should be treated any different ... Except she didn't believe they should be allowed to be married.   I remember asking her why not, and the thing that will always stick with me is that she wasn't sure why.

She didn't know why, she just felt it was wrong

She just didn't know why.

She chalked it up to the fact that every generation has something that they feel is wrong.

So it leaves me to question, after we suddenly realize that 'these gays' are simply humans who want to live their life ... what are we going to be against next?   And why?

It's time we all QUESTION the way we feel about EVERYTHING and why.

AAR You In?
.

(I've shared this picture today from the facebook group Religion Poisons Everything at - https://www.facebook.com/GodIsNotGreat   - check them out!)

So Here We AAR.

It wasn't that long ago that I was naive enough to think there wasn't an entire population of people who were Angry At Religion, I just thought it was my closest friend and family member who kicked around the idea from time to time.

Then came the internet.

Before I even begin my blog I want to explain to you all;  I've been atheist for a long time, but have only recently, in the last year or so become Angry At Religion.   This blog is going to be where I share some of the things I've thought about or come across that have made me feel this way.

There's only one thing I ask of you as a reader:

No matter what you've been TOLD,  what you BELIEVE,  what you SEE,  what you HEAR
               QUESTION EVERYTHING!!

AAR You In??
